MIT Forum hosts Stem Cell Commercialization talk

mit_forum_logo1.gif

On the BioTech front, I recently received an email from the MIT Enterprise Forum announcing that they are hosting a panel discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 26th to talk about the challenges of commercializing stem cell technologies and products.  The panelists / speakers featured are Margaret A. (“Peggy”) Goodell, Ph.D. the Director of the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine (“STaR”) Center at the Baylor College of Medicine and David B. McWilliams, currently the CEO of Opexa Therapeutics and the former CEO of Encysive Pharmaceuticals.  They will be talking about stem cells from a lay perspective as well as describing how to develop commercially viable stem cell products and get them financed.  Given that Houston has one of the largest and most advanced medical communities in the world, this should be a big draw.

Also, for those of you who don’t know, the MIT Enterprise Forum also occasionaly hosts a New Venture Clinic that “provides an opportunity for start-up business owners to receive private, low-risk counsel from an Advisory Panel of business experts in relevant areas such as strategy, finance, law, marketing and sales. As such it’s a perfect opportunity to “fine-tune” a business plan before making that all important first impression to investors.”  If you are interested, you can learn more here or submit your executive summary to newventure@mitforumtexas.org.
