Unleashing the Entrepreneurial Organization with OpenTeams

I spoke with Tory Gattis of OpenTeams recently about what has been going on with their offering.  After viewing the demo, it looks like the application is best suited for development groups and project management (although Tory told me that proj. mgt. is not their focus since there are so many other solutions in that space already), but Tory says that it is ideally suited for any department that is looking to help foster ideas and innovation for their company.  I also think that OpenTeams offers a great implementation of Ajax.

Tory and OpenTeams also were recently interviewed on the BusinessMakers Radio Show. You can go here to hear the interview and learn more.

Having both seen and used OpenTeams I found it to be very useful in pulling together documents / communications amongst a team, not necessarily project focused. In fact, I think many of the strengths of the product lie within the open ended collection process. I often have thoughts I wish to put down and I don’t necessarily want a process, categorization, taxonomy, etc. slowing down the free flow of ideas. These ideas can then be combined, refined or explored further by pulling from the many formats OpenTeams offers including email, wiki, documents, etc.

Now if their were a quick way to capture my handwritten notes and sketches. Maybe even somewhere I could download a recording from a handheld MP3 recording device. How ’bout it Tory?

  • Robert,
Thanks for the nice feedback/assessment. There should be no problem uploading scanner image files or MP3 files as attachments into OpenTeams.
