So we had a wonderful Thursday and recouped on Friday only to get geared up again Saturday morning for GreenCamp Houston ’08. Now for those of you who are still not familiar with the BarCamp style conferences, the best way to learn more would be to actually attend one. Many of the attendees of GreenCamp were first-time BarCampers having no idea of what to expect, but were generally open to the format.
Before I get into the day itself, a special thanks to all of our sponsors:

- DFJ Mercury
- Turf Feeding Systems

- Startup Houston
- Emerging Markets Online (snacks galore)
- Mosaic CFO (that’s me!)
Some major thanks to my co-organizers and helpers:

So if you know how this works, you know that we spent the first hour of the day setting the day’s schedule. We had four rooms set aside so the agenda set out as follows:

| 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. | Shape of Obama’s Carbon Regulation (Ben Cowan, LLBL/Nisha Desai) | Water & Soil (Michael Chaplinsky, Turf Feeding Systems) | Energy Industry/UN Year of the Planet (Brandy Brazell Obvinstev, Energy People Connect) | Living Build Challenge (Stephanie Edwards-Musa, Turning Houston Green) |
| 11:00 – 12:00 a.m. | Green Restaurant Practices (Kevin Lacobie, Saute Bistro/Te House) | Lunar Solar Power (Philip Henderson, DS&S) | Is Affordable Green Residence Possible (Peggy Ghozali, Casa Concept) | Building Green/Cleantech Companies (Dan Watkins, DFJ Mercury) |
| 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. | Biofuels and Algae Fuels Presentation (Will Thurmond, Emerging Markets Online) | Green Building Products | Green Boxes for HHG’s Moving | Carbon Sequestration (Ryan Hill, Deviant Research) |
| 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. | Ike Releaf – Storm Recycling (Kerry Whitehead) | Green + Social Media = Change (Todd Oneill, Doing Media) | Market for Green Buildings and Homes | |

We are working on gathering all the presentations made and making them available to everyone sometime this week. If you want to be added to the distribution list, just post a comment and we’ll add you to the list.
Joining us for the day were a few social media friends from San Antonio who came to learn as they plan a GreenCamp San Antonio in Spring 2009. I am extremely pumped about continuing with our momentum and making this a regular event. More details on that to follow but the best way to stay plugged in is to join our social network on Ning.
Overall, it was an awesome event. We brought together people that may never have had the opportunity to meet in person, opened a few people’s eyes to the power of collaborative open conferences and started a push to put on GreenCamp’s throughout Texas and beyond. Thanks to everyone who presented and participated tremendously…this was only a success because of you.

add me to the distribution list please…
I’d like a copy of the presentations as well.
Thanks,
