I am just now catching up on many things from 2008 and noticed that David Heller has decided to shut down his startup, Supplier View. You can read more about it from David himself at his blog. Once I can connect with him to learn more, I will let everyone know what’s up.
I hope that we see many new startups in 2009, but fear that we may see more cease than start. These are interesting times…

This is actually a really great time to get a start-up going, assuming 1) you have some level of funding for development 2) you are not planning on the commercialization phase for 18 months (that is, you have an 18 month development cycle).
I wonder what the correlation is between consumer sentiment and the number of new startups created? I would be willing to bet that economic fear would tend to squash ambitions to step out on your own.
As a company sitting right in the middle of these interesting times, I can safely say that we are looking at how to grow and survive over the next 18 months with little to no additional capital. Quite the challenging exercise to say the least.
Very nice post, I share the same position about this.
